VNA hOSPICE VOLUNTEERS
Bring hope and comfort to others
We need caring individuals to volunteer with our hospice patients and their families. No special talents are needed...just a desire to help others.
Volunteers are an important part of our hospice team, sharing their time, energy and expertise. They are absolutely vital in fulfilling the hospice mission to care for patients and families facing the end of life.
While duties vary, volunteers generally get involved in the following ways:
- Assist patients by visiting, reading, taking walks and writing letters.
- Help patient families by offering support, running errands and helping with light household duties.
- Assist in caring for a child or pet.
- Provide support to our bereavement staff in the office and at support group meetings.
- Work at VNA wellness events to share information about hospice programs and services.
- Help plan and lend clerical support for our annual hospice memorial service and special fund raising events.
VNA's volunteers are treated to an annual luncheon; receive a complimentary flu immunization; and are invited to all of VNA's special events, including the annual VNA Holiday party. Even more important is that volunteers have the opportunity to build friendships, while participating in work that is personally gratifying and emotionally meaningful.
To learn more about becoming a VNA Hospice Volunteer, please phone our Volunteer Coordinator at (630) 482-8112. We’d love to hear from you!
